High Pressure Shock Wave Attenuation

چکیده
The attenuation of high pressure shock waves has been investigated. High purity copper, 6061-T6 aluminum, 6A1-4V and a phase titanium, an uranium alloy and two alloys of beryllium were examined experimentally at pressures as high as 3 megabars. Low pressure experiments were instrumented with a velocity laser interferometer. Intermediate pressures (to several hundred kilobars) were instrumented with manganin wire peizoresistive gages and high pressure measurements were made through observation of free surface velocities. The results show that evidence of strength, as exhibited by elastic release wave behavior, persists to pressures of hundreds of kilobars and that the release wave structure is not elasticperrectly plastic. For the materials examined the release wave structures can be described as exhibiting a Bauschinger effect. For megabar pressures (beyond melting behind the shock front) fluid behavior is indicated by the lack of an elastic release wave.

An Optical Measurement System to Measure Velocity and Provide Shock Wave Pressure Diagrams
This paper introduces an optical measurement system for shock wave characteristics. The system works by mountinga metal plate attached to spring mounts against the shock wavefront. This set is sealed and can plot the shock wave pressure diagram by measuring plate's displacement, radiation and changing the reflection of light during shock wave conflict, and converting these optical data to volta...
متن کاملAn Estimation of Wave Attenuation Factor in Ultrasonic Assisted Gravity Drainage Process
It has been proved that ultrasonic energy can considerably increase the amount of oil recovery in an immiscible displacement process. Although many studies have been performed on investigating the roles of ultrasonic waves, based on the best of our knowledge, little attention has been paid to evaluate wave attenuation parameter, which is an important parameter in the determination of the energy...
متن کاملA Study of Polycrystalline Silicon Damage Features Based on Nanosecond Pulse Laser Irradiation with Different Wavelength Effects
Based on PVDF (piezoelectric sensing techniques), this paper attempts to study the propagation law of shock waves in brittle materials during the process of three-wavelength laser irradiation of polysilicon, and discusses the formation mechanism of thermal shock failure. The experimental results show that the vapor pressure effect and the plasma pressure effect in the process of pulsed laser ir...
متن کاملExperimental Studies on Shock Wave Propagating Through Junction with Grooves
Using a shock tube to generate shock waves, the wave patterns through several bifurcated junctions were studied. The effect of roughness was simulated by introducing grooves on the lower wall of the junctions, while the upper wall had a smooth surface. Five different bifurcation angles were used in the present study: 0, 30, 45, 60, and 90 degrees. The shock tube driver pressure was P4 = 12 bar,...
متن کاملNumerical analysis of energy transmission through discontinuities and fillings in Kangir Dam
A considerable amount of energy is released in the form of shock wave from explosive charge detonation. Shock wave energy is responsible for the creation of crushing and fracture zone around the blast hole. The rest of the shock wave energy is transferred to rock mass as ground vibration. Ground vibration is conveyed to the adjacent structures by body and surface waves. Geological structures li...
